Surveen Singh is an LA-based independent artist whose music blends indie pop, alt rock, and country, with an R&B sensibility and electronic edge, anchored by a uniquely expressive voice. Drawing inspiration from the moody introspection of late 90s/early 2000s No Doubt, the storytelling-driven songwriting of Rilo Kiley, and powerful female vocalists across pop, R&B, and country (think Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande), Singh creates music that explores time, longing, loneliness, growing up, and the uneasy pursuit of both love and purpose in the modern age. Her songs are grounded in innocent honesty, communicated through conversational, soulful vocals. Her greatest strength may be her gifted vocal tone, harmonies, and versatility: dramatic yet intimate, playful yet aching.
Originally from Houston, Singh began performing at a young age through ballet, musical theater, piano, and guitar. Her journey as an artist has been featured on television news 3 times, including interviews with live performances on 2 major Houston television stations (NBC interview, FOX interview), where she shared her story of living with alopecia and using music to inspire confidence and self-expression. Soon after that, she was featured by Spectrum News Los Angeles for one of her Instagram covers (Giveon’s “Heartbreak Anniversary”), just weeks after relocating to Los Angeles. Back in 2012, she caught the eye of Perez Hilton, performed alongside him at his SXSW showcase in Austin, and was later featured on his website.
Beyond her own work, Singh is passionate about supporting fellow artists and has curated showcases across Los Angeles and San Francisco in venues like Brick & Mortar and Viper Room, including a performance event featuring Grammy-nominated R&B artist Ginuwine. Her lead single and music video “Be for Me” from her 2018 EP “The System” was featured in a national ad campaign for the popular design app, Canva.
Her upcoming project is produced by Grammy-nominated producer Anthony Bell and producer Phil Smith. Bell's credits include Jazmine Sullivan's debut album, Jill Scott's classic hit “Golden,” work with Jewel, and most recently Mario's 2025 release “Home.” Smith studied classical guitar at the Oberlin Conservatory, bringing a strong musical foundation to the collaboration. Singh earned second place in Houston producer Trakksounds' songwriting competition, and her debut EP was produced by Lee-Lonn and mixed by Bruce Bang. Trakksounds has worked with artists including 2 Chainz, Tink, and Jhené Aiko, while Bang's credits include Paul Wall and Usher, notably contributing to Usher's Super Bowl halftime performance.
Outside of the iconic No Doubt and Gwen Stefani, her key influences include Miley Cyrus, Rilo Kiley, Madonna, Tinashe, Willow Smith, Incubus, 311, and many more, contributing to the versatility of her voice and a passion for music evident in the way she subtly evokes many genres in a single song, developing a sound that is truly all her own.
